4 Quotes to Keep You Motivated

The job search process can be arduous and painstaking. It can be especially frustrating if you’ve been at it for more than a few weeks and just haven’t had any luck. If you’re in need of some motivation, here are a few quotes from notable people to help you stay on track.

1. The key to success is failure – Michael Jordan

If anyone knows about success, it’s Michael Jordan. He’s arguably the greatest basketball player of all time and won six championships during his illustrious career.

The essence of this quote is that everyone is going to experience failure. It’s simply a part of life. But if you never try and fail, you’re never going to eventually succeed. The point is that your efforts are not in vain and that success is often a numbers game.

You can only fail so many times until you ultimately hit your goal. Stay positive, keep at it and you’ll find the right job.

2. Never quit. It’s the easiest cop-out in the world. Set a goal and don’t quit until you attain it. – Bear Bryant

Bear Bryant is another notable sports figure and was the long-tenured football coach at the University of Alabama. Over the course of his career, Bryant won six national championships and was the 12-time coach of the year in the Southeastern Conference.

This quote emphasizes the value of “grinding it out” and staying focused on the goal at hand. It’s obviously easier to simply raise the white flag and quit, but you’re never going to reach your goal with this mentality. Instead, it’s important to stay the course and keep at it until you find the right job.

3. Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today – Thomas Jefferson

Procrastination can be the ultimate productivity killer and can bring progress to a screeching halt. Jefferson was known for his aversion to idleness, and this quote summarizes the importance of staying productive and making continual progress.

4. Do one thing every day that scares you – Eleanor Roosevelt

How much better off would we all be if we simply faced our fears rather than let them rule our lives? The problem with giving in to fear is that it creates a vicious cycle, and many people can actually become crippled by it over time.

Whether it’s contacting an employer directly, attending a job fair or getting out of your comfort zone when networking, this mindset is almost guaranteed to boost your courage.  It gets easier and easier to do things that may seem intimidating.

Sometimes we all need a little encouragement to step our game up and become the best possible versions of ourselves. If you’re struggling with your job search, hopefully these quotes will provide some motivation.
