5 Signs That It’s Time to Find a New Job

Are you unsure if it’s the right time to look for a different job? If you’re facing the following indicators, it may be time to start searching.

1. There’s Constant Friction with Your Boss

You can’t expect to get along with your boss 100 percent of the time. But if you’re experiencing constant issues that are resulting in stress or making you unhappy, it’s usually a sign the job is not right for you. In fact, a recent study found, “Of the four top reasons people gave for leaving a company, all four had to do with management and personnel environment.” This is a common motivator for employees to leave.

2. You Get No Recognition

Another major issue between companies and their employees is when employees aren’t recognized for their efforts. According to David Novak, co-founder and CEO of digital leadership platform oGoLead, “There’s a tremendous lack of recognition in the world today, something he calls global recognition deficit.” If you continually give maximum effort but receive little to no appreciation, it’s probably time to look elsewhere.

3. There’s No Room for Development

Career development is a major priority for many workers, especially those in younger generations. And it’s only natural to want to work your way up the ladder and earn promotions.  If you’ve plateaued and there’s no room for professional development, it may be time to leave.

4. You’re Anxious Thinking About Work on the Weekend

This one is a surefire sign. Having a job that’s a chronic source of worry and anxiety isn’t healthy and can take a toll on you long-term. If you feel a sense of apprehension when you think about work on the weekend, it means it’s spilling over to your personal life and isn’t a good situation.

5. Your Gut Says Go

Finally, you can almost always rely on your gut instinct in situations like this. Whenever there’s an unshakeable feeling that you’re not in the right job and you can’t stop thinking about quitting, it usually means it’s time to go and isn’t something you should put off much longer.

While there’s no foolproof formula for knowing when it’s time to find a new job, these signs are pretty good indicators that it’s not working out and time to move on. In that case, it’s time to explore other options and see what else is out there.
